Boulder Turquoise Pendant
This Boulder turquoise and sterling silver pendant is lovingly handmade by Harvey and Janie Chavez of the Kewa Pueblo tribe in northern New Mexico, USA. The rich colours of this domed and polished turquoise cabochon are enhanced by the cut of the stone. ‘Boulder Turquoise’ or ‘Ribbon Turquoise’ is simply when a stone cutter takes natural Vein Turquoise (Turquoise in its natural host rock) and cuts in the direction to create the vein going through the rock like a ribbon or splotches of turquoise in the host rock like a Boulder Opal. This boulder turquoise stone measures 2cm x 1.8cm (2.8cm including bail) and hangs on a 45cm sterling silver chain.
Janie Chavez and her husband Harvey Chavez have been making beautiful jewellery for Rainmaker Gallery for almost thirty years. Rainmaker Gallery has worked with three generation of the Chavez family, including the parents of both Harvey and Janie and now their grown-up daughters Dana Chavez and Kayleen Chavez whose jewellery you can also purchase on this website. We are honoured to bring you the beautiful work of this talented family.
