Turquoise heishi earrings
These classic turquoise heishi earrings are expertly hand crafted by Marcia Garcia of the Kewa Pueblo tribe in northern New Mexico. Each bead of these loop earrings is hand cut, drilled and polished from Kingman Arizona turquoise by Marcia. The beads at the base of the earrings are also individually bevelled in shape adding to the beauty of the form. The earrings measure 6.5cm in overall length including the sterling silver ear wires.
The Garcia family expertly hand craft beads in the traditional way of the Kewa Pueblo tribe. Every bead is individually hand cut, drilled and polished from natural materials such as turquoise, coral, pipestone, black jet, serpentine or shell. This once wide spread traditional skill is practised by fewer and fewer members of the tribe with each passing generation.
