Gallery Talk with Shaq Koyok, 26th November, 11am.

Join us, on Wednesday November 26th at 11am, for a powerful talk with SHAQ KOYOK, an award-winning Temuan Indigenous artist/activist from Malaysia.

Shaq will share stories from his Temuan upbringing, exploring the meaning of sustainable living among the Orang Asli (Indigenous peoples of Malaysia) and how these values shape both his art and his activism.

He will also speak about the ongoing dispossession of Indigenous communities in Malaysia caused by deforestation, war, colonialism, imperialism, and capitalist expansion.

Shaq’s work blends traditional Temuan artistic practice with the lived trauma of witnessing environmental destruction—creating thought-provoking pieces that raise awareness of these urgent issues.

A tireless advocate, Shaq Koyok stands on the front-lines of Indigenous rights movements in Malaysia and champions climate justice at international conferences.

He is currently collaborating with the Artivist Network at COP30 in Belém, Brazil, creating bold visual art for climate actions throughout the two-week summit.

Meet Shaq Koyok at Rainmaker Gallery on Wednesday morning.
