Green Turquoise Bracelet
This Native American green turquoise bracelet is reversible and adjustable. It is designed and hand crafted by Jonathan Garcia of the Kewa Pueblo tribe in northern New Mexico USA. The design incorporates three rows of traditional ‘heishi’ beads and sterling silver beads flanking a reversible rectangular centrepiece of polished green Kingman turquoise and red spiny oyster shell. Each heishi beads is hand cut, drilled and polished from glorious green Kingman Arizona turquoise by Jonathan. The bracelet fastens with a sterling silver chain to fit all sizes. The centre lozenge measures 1.2cm x 1.6cm. The bracelet measures 21cm in length including the 4cm chain.
The Garcia family expertly hand craft beads in the traditional way of the Kewa Pueblo tribe. Every bead is individually hand cut, drilled and polished from natural materials such as turquoise, coral, pipestone, black jet, serpentine or shell. This once wide spread traditional skill is practised by fewer and fewer members of the tribe with each passing generation.
